How To Protect Your Business From Data Theft Today

In today’s home-based business blog post we will be focusing on how you can protect your business from data theft today in 2018? Data theft is big business for the criminal enterprise which undertake this type of criminal activity in 2018. For the criminals it is just another way to obtain your business information either through data theft or fraud which they can use to steal your assets, money or trade secrets. We have heard recently in the national and international news channels what can happen to you data if you do not protect it hard enough and how this data can end up in the wrong hand of people who have some very clear intention which may differ from your perception what your data was used for.

Some step you can take right now is to enable double authentication which you can enable on most emailaccounts like yahoo, gmail and others. This allow you to sign in twice, once with your password and the second step through a code sent to your registered mobile phone or alternative email address. This makes it very hard for hacker to hack into your email account as not only will they need you password but also access to your mobile phone number. The second step you can take to protect your business is to back all you data up at least once per day on two or three external hard drives which can be stored at alternative secure locations. One hard drive can be located in a fire-proof safe, the second hard drive at your bank and the third at your business address again in a fire-proof safe. All hard drive must be encrypted with a code so no one can access them.

You can also upload all your business information to a secure cloud base system again this must have double authentication enabled. If you have business desktop PC, Laptops and Smart phones I would highly recommend that you secure all these devices with very strong password with password set on the Hard drive and adminstrator password too. This will ensure that if you desktop PC, laptops or smart phones are ever stolen the criminal will have a very hard time accessing your data stored on these machines as you can set the setting to wipe the hard drive if the password is entered incorrectly a number of times.

I would also strongly recommend that you install a home alarm system where you can monitor your business premises from home via cctv systems or an alarm system.

I hope you have found this home business blog post useful, any question, comments or feedback you may have please do leave your comments in the below comments section and we will try to answer all your question in regards to this article very soon.
